The larger stones for Stonehenge in Wiltshire, England were quarried from Sarsen stone 15 miles to the north in Marlborough Downs, and are 4 meters high x 2.1 meters wide, weighing 25 tons each. The smaller bluestones were brought in from more than 200 miles away.

St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, Italy is of flying buttress construction made from Travertine, brick, and stones. Completed in 1506, it is the largest of all cathedrals at 218 meters x 150 meters and 136.6 meters high.

The Colosseum in Rome, Italy was made from self repairing concrete, travertine limestone, and volcanic tuff, finished in 80 AD. It is the largest amphitheater in the world at 189 meters long x 156 meters wide and 48 meters tall, capable of holding up to 80,000 spectators in its heyday.
